KENT, OHIO – H.R. Gray was retained by the City of Kent to provide inspection services for their East Summit Street Improvement project. East Summit Street is a main thoroughfare of Portage County and the main road running through Kent State University. This road is vital for maintaining efficient traffic flows and allowing access to all buildings on both sides for KSU’s largest constituents – its students.
This project includes complete reconstruction of 1.22 miles of East Summit Street, the relocation of .24 miles of West Campus Center Drive, and the addition of two modern roundabouts. In addition, this project covered the reconstruction and relocation of side streets Johnston Drive, Ted Boyd Drive, Kent Drive and Morris Road. The reconstruction and upgrading of traffic signalization at South Lincoln Street, Morris Road/Janik Drive and the Loop road intersection of East Summit Street. East Summit Street now includes new curb, sidewalk, on-street bike lanes, new drainage and sanitary sewers, new water line and water mains.
